How to Download Binance for Mac: macOS Client Installation

Mac users have three options if they want to use Binance: the App Store version (requires an overseas Apple ID), the Official DMG version (offers the highest degree of freedom), and the Web version (zero installation). The official DMG version provides native support for both Intel chips and Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4), running even smoother than the Windows version. First, go to the download page on the Binance Official Website to find the macOS entrance. Mobile users can directly install the Binance Official App; iPhone/iPad users can refer to the iOS Installation Guide.

Advantages of the Mac Version

Compared to the Windows version and the web version, the Mac client has several unique features:

  • Touch ID Fingerprint Login: MacBook Pro/Air and Magic Keyboards with Touch ID can directly unlock the Binance App using fingerprints.
  • Native Apple Silicon Support: M1 and newer chips do not run through Rosetta translation, resulting in 60% lower CPU usage compared to Intel Macs.
  • Integration with Mac Notification Center: Price alerts use the system's Notification Center and can be seen on the lock screen.
  • Mission Control Gesture Support: A four-finger swipe up switches to the Binance window.
  • Dark Mode Auto-Sync: The Binance interface automatically turns dark when macOS switches to Dark Mode.
  • Retina High-Definition Rendering: Text and indicators on candlestick charts are completely crisp and clear on Retina displays.

Notice for MacBook Air Users: Binance's candlestick charts can be somewhat resource-intensive. Running futures charts for long periods will slightly affect battery life, so it's recommended to use it while plugged in.

Step 1: Download the DMG File

Open Safari or Chrome and visit binance.com, scroll to the bottom, and click "Downloads" to enter the download page. Find the "macOS" icon; clicking it will download a file named Binance.dmg.

The file size is around 200MB, and depending on your network speed, the download takes about 1-3 minutes. Once completed, the file is saved by default in the ~/Downloads/ directory.

The first thing to do after downloading is to verify the file size:

ls -lh ~/Downloads/Binance.dmg

The normal size should be between 180MB and 220MB. If it's only a few MBs or tens of MBs, the download was interrupted and needs to be downloaded again.

Step 2: Verify the DMG Signature

Mac's security requirements for downloaded files are stricter than Windows. Right-click Binance.dmg in Finder → Get Info, or run the following in the terminal:

codesign -dv --verbose=4 /Volumes/Binance/Binance.app

The correct signature information should include:

  • Authority=Developer ID Application: Binance Holdings Limited
  • A TeamIdentifier corresponding to Binance's official Team ID
  • A Timestamp showing a recent timestamp

If any of these do not match, delete the DMG file immediately. An unsigned "Mac version of Binance" is 100% a fake.

Step 3: Mount the DMG and Install

Double-click Binance.dmg to mount the disk image. An installation window with an arrow will pop up, containing two icons:

  • Left: The Binance.app icon
  • Right: An alias for the Applications folder

Drag the Binance.app from the left to the Applications folder on the right; the copying process takes about 5 seconds. Do not run it directly by double-clicking inside the DMG—doing so means you'll have to remount the DMG every time you open it, and there will be no shortcut.

After copying is complete:

  1. In the Finder sidebar, click the "" button next to the top "Binance" disk icon to eject the DMG.
  2. You can delete the ~/Downloads/Binance.dmg file (if you no longer need it).

Step 4: Authorization on the First Open

Find the Binance icon in Launchpad or your Applications folder and double-click to open it. macOS will display a security warning:

"Binance" cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware.

This is normal, as Binance is an application distributed outside of the App Store. Solutions:

Method 1: System Settings Authorization

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  2. Scroll down to the "Security" section.
  3. You will see a line saying ""Binance" was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer".
  4. Click the "Allow Anyway" button on the right.
  5. You will need to enter your Mac administrator password or use Touch ID.

Once done, double-click the Binance icon again. This time it will prompt:

macOS cannot verify the developer of "Binance". Are you sure you want to open it?

Click "Open". It will not show this warning on subsequent opens.

Method 2: Temporarily Remove the Quarantine Attribute via Terminal

Tech-savvy users can use the terminal directly:

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Binance.app

Enter your Mac password, and it takes effect immediately. This is suitable for batch deployment scenarios on Macs.

Step 5: Log in to Your Account

After opening the App for the first time:

  1. Select Language: Simplified Chinese / English.
  2. Enter the email or phone number for your Binance account.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Complete the human verification (CAPTCHA).
  5. Enter the email verification code.
  6. Enter the Google Authenticator code.

After a successful login, the App will ask if you want to enable Touch ID quick login—it is highly recommended to turn this on. For every subsequent launch, you can just press Touch ID to log in, without needing to enter your password again.

Special Notes for M-Series Chips

There are a few details to note when running Binance on Macs equipped with Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4):

  • The Binance official website automatically detects your chip, and the download page provides a Universal Binary (compatible with both Intel and Apple Silicon).
  • The "Kind" column in Activity Monitor should display "Apple"; if it says "Intel," it means it's running through Rosetta translation.
  • Memory usage on M-series chips is about 400MB, 30% lower than on Intel Macs.
  • The first launch is slightly slower (about 8 seconds), but subsequent launches take less than 3 seconds.

If you are an M1/M2 user and the App displays "Intel", it means you downloaded an older installation package. Simply redownload the latest DMG from the official website.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Can I download Binance directly from the Mac App Store?

A: It is removed from the China App Store, but available in overseas stores like the US, Hong Kong, and Japan. If your Mac is logged in with an overseas Apple ID, you can directly search for "Binance" in the Mac App Store to download it. There's no need to go through the DMG process, and it will update automatically. Switching the Apple ID for the Mac App Store will not affect your iCloud, so you can do it safely.

Q2: Double-clicking the DMG says "Disk image is corrupted."

A: 99% of the time, this is due to an incomplete download. Solutions: ① Delete the current DMG and download it again; ② Do not use multi-threading tools like Thunder (Xunlei) to download; ③ Check if your Mac has enough disk space (at least 500MB); ④ If it keeps happening, try downloading at a different time. Actual DMG corruption is extremely rare.

Q3: After installation, the App gets stuck on the startup screen.

A: There are three common reasons: ① The first startup is inherently slow, so wait 30 seconds; ② An older system version is incompatible, so upgrade macOS to 13+; ③ The local cache is corrupted, so delete the ~/Library/Application Support/Binance/ folder and restart. If it still doesn't work, uninstall it and reinstall the latest version from the official website.

Q4: Can I log into two Binance accounts at the same time on a Mac?

A: The official desktop app does not support logging into two accounts simultaneously. Workarounds: ① Use the desktop App for one and a browser for the other; ② Log into different accounts on Safari and Chrome; ③ Use the Mac's "Guest User" feature to create a second system account, and install a separate instance of the Binance App on each. Method ③ completely isolates the data and is best suited for traders managing multiple accounts.

Q5: Does the Mac version use a lot of memory?

A: It uses about 350-500MB of memory during normal operation. When opening 4 candlestick chart windows simultaneously, it uses about 700MB. This is perfectly fine for an 8GB RAM MacBook Air and will not affect other apps. If you notice Binance using over 1.5GB, it indicates a memory leak, and restarting the App will fix it.

How to Uninstall

Uninstalling Binance on a Mac is simpler than on Windows:

  1. Open the Applications folder.
  2. Drag Binance.app to the Trash.
  3. Empty the Trash.
  4. (Optional) Delete ~/Library/Application Support/Binance/ to clear local data.
  5. (Optional) Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.binance.client.plist to clear preferences.

Your account and assets remain on the servers, so uninstalling the App will not affect your account.
