How to Uninstall the Binance App and Completely Clear Data

Uninstalling the Binance App seems like just long-pressing the icon to delete it, but in fact, local login tokens, caches, and log files will remain. To completely clean it up, a few extra steps are needed. This article explains how to do a "clean uninstall" on Android and iOS devices. Before uninstalling, it's recommended to log in to the web version on the Binance Official Site to confirm your account's security settings, and if necessary, use another device logged into the Binance Official App as a backup. If you need to reinstall later, you can refer to the iOS Installation Tutorial.

3 Things You Must Do Before Uninstalling

Whether you are changing phones, lending out your phone, or deciding not to use Binance anymore, these 3 things must be done before uninstalling, otherwise it may cause security risks or account theft.

First: Log Out of the Current Device

Open the Binance App → "Profile" in the bottom right corner → Avatar → "Security" → "Account Activity" or "Device Management".

Find the current device and tap "Log Out" or "Remove this device". This step is extremely important—if you just delete the App, the server-side login session is still valid, and theoretically, someone who gets hold of your device's cache files could restore the login.

Second: Remove Biometric Bindings

If you have enabled Fingerprint or Face ID to unlock Binance, turn it off in the App before uninstalling: Security Settings → Biometric Authentication → Turn Off. This ensures the server no longer retains biometric authorization for that device.

Third: Delete Bound API Keys

If you have configured API Keys on this device for quantitative trading, uninstalling the App will not automatically delete the API Keys on the server. You must manually delete unused keys on the "API Management" page, otherwise they could be exploited by others.

Complete Uninstall Steps for Android

Step 1: Uninstall the App Itself

Settings → App Management → Binance → Uninstall, or long-press the icon on the home screen and select "Uninstall".

This step only deletes the main App body; there are still cache and log residues locally.

Step 2: Clear Residual App Data

After uninstalling, open your File Manager, go to the Android/data/ directory in internal storage, and check if there are still folders related to com.binance.dev or com.binance. Some Android systems do not automatically clear this directory upon uninstallation, so you need to delete them manually.

Note: Android 11 and above have restricted access to the Android/data directory, so you need to use the system's built-in file manager to access it.

Step 3: Clear APK Files in the Download Directory

The Binance APK installation package is usually in the Download/ directory. If files like Binance.apk are still there, delete them together to prevent accidental installation next time.

Step 4: Clear Browser Data

If you have visited binance.com in Chrome or other browsers, the browser might still have Cookies, saved passwords, and history:

  • Chrome → Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data → Check "Cookies", "Cached images and files", "Saved passwords"
  • Select Time range: "All time"
  • Specifically clear content related to binance.com

Step 5: Clear System Clipboard

If you have copied sensitive information like Binance addresses, seed phrases, or passwords, the system clipboard might still retain them. It's recommended to copy some irrelevant text (like "a") to overwrite the previous content.

Complete Uninstall Steps for iOS

Step 1: Long Press the Icon to Delete the App

Long press the Binance icon → "Remove App" → "Delete App". The sandbox mechanism of iOS is stricter than Android's; deleting the App will automatically clear all data within the sandbox, which makes it easier than on Android.

Step 2: Delete the Configuration Profile (For Enterprise Certificate Users)

If you installed the enterprise certificate version, the configuration profile will not be deleted with the App. Open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → find the Binance profile → Remove Profile.

Step 3: Clear Safari Data

Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data, select "All History". This will wipe all Cookies and caches for binance.com.

Step 4: Delete Accounts in iCloud Keychain

If you previously let iCloud save your Binance account and password:

Settings → Passwords → Search "binance" → find the corresponding entry → swipe to delete.

Step 5: Clear "Recently Deleted"

If you have screenshots in your iOS Photos (such as KYC photos), they remain in the album after the App is uninstalled. Photos → Recently Deleted → Delete All is the only way to truly clear them.

Step 6: Check Apple ID Subscriptions

If you have paid for Binance-related services using your Apple ID (e.g., via third-party subscriptions): Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → cancel related subscriptions.

Security Advice After Cleanup

1. Change Password

Uninstalling is a critical milestone, so it's a good time to change your Binance password as well. This prevents any residual local caches or screenshots from being found by others.

2. Reset 2FA (Optional)

If you are completely done using this device, it's best to remove the old 2FA binding and rebind it to a new device: Security Center → Google Authenticator → Unbind → set it up again on the new device.

3. Reset Anti-Phishing Code

The Anti-Phishing code can also be changed along with it; change it to a phrase known only to the new device you are currently using.

4. Backup Recovery Codes

Before uninstalling, make sure your 2FA recovery codes are stored in a safe place—if you encounter login issues after uninstalling, the recovery code is your last line of defense.

Special Scenario: Selling/Giving Away the Phone

If you are handing the phone over to someone else, merely uninstalling the Binance App is far from enough:

Step 1: Restore Factory Settings

Settings → System → Reset Options → Erase all data (factory reset). This step will wipe out all personal data, Apps, accounts, and caches at once from the phone.

Step 2: Confirm iCloud/Google Accounts are Logged Out

  • iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Sign Out
  • Android: Settings → Accounts → Google → Remove Account

This ensures the new owner will not see any of your traces when they get the phone.

Step 3: Physically Destroy the SIM Card (Optional)

If you used the phone number bound to Binance, it's recommended to physically destroy the old SIM card when changing numbers, to prevent it from being recycled and used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will uninstalling the Binance App affect my account?

A: Not at all. Account data is entirely on the servers; uninstalling only deletes the local client. You can reinstall the App and log back in at any time.

Q: Will my crypto still be there after uninstalling?

A: Every single cent. The crypto is in your account on Binance's servers, not on your phone. The mobile App is just a "remote control".

Q: Why does reinstalling still show my past login history?

A: That is the server-side log, not a local cache. To clear historical logs, you can only apply through a customer service ticket.

Q: How do I access the Android/data directory on Android?

A: Android 11 and above requires using the phone's built-in file manager (third-party file managers do not have permission). For some brands, you need to manually input the path in the file manager.

Q: I just want to switch to a new version, do I need to go through all this hassle?

A: No. Just install over the old one; you don't need to completely uninstall. The cleanup process in this article is meant for the scenario where "you absolutely do not want to log into Binance on this device ever again".
